ACCS Success Video: Kenneth Gowins
Kenneth Gowins is a military veteran seeking a new career. Kenneth says his GI Bill and the instructors at Chattahoochee Valley’s approach with veterans returning home has made his learning experience great. Through relationships form between Chattahoochee and local businesses, Kenneth has been able to receive on-the-job training to go along with the education he is receiving from CVCC’s Industry Training Center and is currently working as a blacksmith for the city of Columbus, GA.State and Federal Veterans Resources
Alabama National Guard Educational Assistance Program (ANGEAP)
ANGEAP is a state student assistance program established by the Legislature of the State of Alabama. It is designed to provide financial assistance to Alabama National Guard members who are residents of the State of Alabama and are enrolled in degree programs at accredited postsecondary institutions of higher learning located within the State of Alabama.
Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (CH 1606)
CH 1606 provides education and training benefits to eligible members of the Selected Reserve, including the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (CH 30)
CH 30 provides education benefits to Veterans and service members who have at least two years of active duty.
Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (CH 31)
CH 31 provides education and training benefits to help Veterans and service members with service-connected disabilities or an employment handicap prepare for, obtain, and maintain suitable careers.
Post 9/11 GI Bill (CH 33)
CH 33 provides education and training benefits to eligible individuals that have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or an honorably discharged Veteran.
Tuition Assistance (TA)
TA program provides financial assistance for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier’s professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning and is part of an approved academic degree or certificate program.
Family and Dependent Resources
Alabama GI Dependent Scholarship
Enacted in 1947, The Alabama G.I. Dependents’ Scholarship Program provides children and spouses/Widow(er) of eligible Veterans with education benefits to any Alabama State supported college, university, or technical school.
Post 9/11 GI Bill TOE (CH 33e)
Eligible service members may transfer all 36 months or the portion of unused Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to their spouse, children, or any combination of spouse and child.
The Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Fry Scholarship)
The Fry Scholarship is available for children and spouses of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001
The Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) Program (CH 35)
CH 35 offers education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition. Search for: Quick Links
